Kendimi ifade etme aracı olarak fotoğrafı kullanıyorum. Fotoğraf, benim ve fotoğrafımın öznesi olan kişilerin duygularıyla temas kurmamda en rahat olduğum araç.  Portre çekimleri yaparak karşımda duran öznenin en yalın halini fotoğraflamayı önemsiyorum. Bu yalınlığı sadece öznenin bana baktığı anda değil aynı zamanda benim ona baktığım yerde de oluşturmaya çalışıyorum. Arkadaşlık içerisinde olduğum kişilerin bir anını değil, hayatlarının içinde bulunduğum her anını adeta bir günlük tutar gibi kaydetmeye devam ediyorum. Bu günlük sadece benim etrafımda olanları değil, benim içimde olanları da kapsıyor. Bu açıdan fotoğraf pratiğimi “kişisel belgesel”olarak tanımlayabilirim. Yaklaşık on altı yıldır devam eden arşivimde geriye baktığımda/ döndüğümde; hayatımın -hayatlarımızın- tüm süreçlerine ait   kaybedilenler ve henüz kırklı yaşlarına bile gelmemiş biri olarak yakın tarihimizden mazi olarak bahsediyor oluşumuz beni hüzünlendirse de, kaydettiğim tüm zamanları kıymetli ve masalsı olduğunu düşünüyorum.​

 

I use photography as a means of expressing myself. In order to connect with my emotions and the feelings of the individuals I picture, photography is the medium in which I feel most at ease. I value capturing the most basic rendition of the subject in front of me when I take portraits. Not only when the subject looks at me, but also when I look at them, I attempt to achieve this simplicity. I still document every moment I am involved in with my friends, not just the ones we are friends with, as though I were keeping a journal. This journal documents not just my external surroundings but also my inward experiences. In this respect, I can define my photography practice as "personal documentary". When I look back at my archive that has been going on for about sixteen years; Even though it makes me sad that we talk about our recent history as the past, as someone who has not even reached the age of forties, and the losses of all the processes of my life -our lives- I think all the times I have recorded are precious and fairytale-like.
